Adding a climbing wall to your school or university is an original way to diversify your physical education programme, providing an alternative to traditional team sports.
Are you looking for an activity suitable for school children with special educational needs and disabilities?
Climbing can be both mentally and physically stimulating for your students, increasing overall fitness as part of a PE programme or playtime pursuit, boosting confidence, and improving skills such as coordination, communication, and problem-solving.
Over 7,300 schools and colleges have trusted EP Climbing to build their climbing wall so far. We’ll work with you to design, produce, and install a bespoke SEND school climbing wall that meets the needs of your pupils. You choose the style you’d like, and we’ll take it from there.
Healthy Exercise for Children
Climbing is an excellent full-body workout that improves coordination, strength, endurance, and problem-solving skills.
Build Friendships and Communication Skills
Climbing is not just a sport, but also a community-focused activity that encourages teamwork and social interaction.
Challenge and Adventure
Climbing offers a unique and exciting challenge that motivates children to push their limits and try new things.
Safe and Supervised Environment
Climbing in a controlled and supervised environment provides a safe and secure setting for children to explore and challenge themselves.
We’ll work with you to design, produce, and install a bespoke SEND school climbing wall that meets the needs of your pupils. You choose the style you’d like, and we’ll take it from there.
We can even match the colours of your school climbing wall to your branding – and add a school emblem or crest to boost your students’ sense of belonging.
Traverse walls and roped climbing walls are recommended for SEND schools, teaching children the fundamental skills of climbing at a low level and with the safety of a rope.
Climbing horizontally rather than vertically, known as ‘traversing’, students are never more than a few feet away from the ground. As such, traverse walls are perfect for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to play and learn basic climbing skills.
Needing very little space, traverse walls offer great flexibility in where they can be installed. We can build your SEND school traverse wall indoors or outdoors, and either free-standing or mounted to an existing wall, depending on your preferences.
Roped climbing walls allow your students to climb as high as possible with the comfort and safety of a rope, enabling them to push their skills and abilities without being held back by the prospect of falling. The use of ropes likewise makes challenges accessible to all, with climbing difficulty varying from beginner to more complex depending on the needs of your pupils.
Our roped walls also satisfy the requirements of both GCSE PE and NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes) curriculums, should your students wish to progress their climbing to obtain awards and qualifications.
Roped walls may be used for top roping, or have the option of being equipped with TRUBLUE™ auto belays to enable climbers to ascend without the need for a partner.
EP Climbing produces not only climbing walls, but also the holds, macros, and volumes needed to create fun and testing challenges for your students.
As an International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Authorised Producer, you can rest assured that our holds are of the utmost quality. In addition to providing you with climbing holds, our specialist route setters can create tailored challenges for your school climbing walls.
