To kick off the 2026 summer season, Chamrousse expanded its climbing offering with the opening of its new Alpine Climbing Village at Roche Béranger.
Developed in partnership with EP Climbing, the new outdoor climbing space features three XP boulders designed for climbers of all ages and abilities.
The village complements Chamrousse’s natural climbing sites, creating a space where visitors can discover bouldering, warm up before heading to the surrounding cliffs, practise their movement, or simply enjoy a climbing session with family and friends.
Climbing has been part of Chamrousse’s outdoor offering for many years. To make the activity more accessible within the resort, Chamrousse tested an EP Climbing container boulder over two consecutive summer seasons.
The success of this temporary installation confirmed visitor interest and led the resort to invest in a permanent climbing solution.
The new Climbing Village builds on that experience with three XP boulders offering different levels of difficulty:
Together, the three structures create a varied climbing experience for beginners, families and more experienced climbers.
The Climbing Village was designed to complement Chamrousse’s existing natural climbing opportunities.
Located directly within the resort, it provides an accessible introduction to bouldering while giving climbers a place to practise their movement or warm up before exploring the surrounding cliffs.
By connecting artificial and natural climbing, the project makes the sport more accessible while encouraging visitors to discover the wider mountain environment and Chamrousse’s natural climbing sites.
The three XP boulders feature EP Climbing’s weather-resistant panel technology, designed for permanent outdoor installations and year-round exposure.
Durable and low-maintenance, this technology provides mountain resorts with a long-term outdoor climbing solution adapted to demanding weather conditions.
Access to the Alpine Climbing Village is free and open to the public, with crashpads available to rent from the Roche Béranger Tourist Office.
