40 Years of Climbing Innovation – Discover the Book That Tells It All

Indoor climbing as we know it today began with a bold idea in the 1980s: the very first removable climbing hold, imagined by François Savigny. From that breakthrough was born Entre-Prises—today EP Climbing.

Over the past four decades, EP has shaped the history of climbing with innovations that changed the sport forever:

  • The first resin-concrete holds that spread climbing gyms worldwide
  • Patented 3D panels that revolutionised wall design
  • The launch of Clip ’n Climb, making climbing fun and accessible for all
  • Walls that hosted the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games—and soon Los Angeles 2028

All these milestones, and many more untold stories, are now brought together in our anniversary book: “40 Years: From Innovation to Reference – The Story of Entre-Prises.”

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Personal testimonies from world-class athletes who trained on EP walls
  • Insights from engineers and designers behind iconic products

  • EP’s vision for a more inclusive, sustainable, and connected future

  • The journey of indoor climbing from niche activity to Olympic sport

A New Era with a New CEO

As much as this anniversary is about celebrating the past, it is also about building the future. In 2025, Damien Tatangelo takes the helm as CEO of EP Climbing, bringing with him a clear and ambitious roadmap for the next chapter.

The objectives are bold:

  • Accelerate innovation across products, services, and markets
  • Strengthen sustainability through eco-design, recycled materials, and circular economy practices
  • Expand internationally, with a focus on Europe, the US, Asia, and emerging markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and South America
  • Make climbing more inclusive by developing solutions for schools, adaptive climbers, and community projects

This vision positions EP not only as a historical leader in climbing, but also as a pioneer of the next 40 years—where innovation, sustainability, and inclusion will define the future of the sport.
