EP Climbing’s Competitive Advantage

Building Walls for Athletes, Communities, and the Future of the Sport

At EP Climbing, competition isn’t just a specialty—it’s in our DNA. For 40 years, we’ve worked alongside athletes, setters, and coaches to create climbing environments that push the sport forward. From Olympic venues to your local gym, our mission is the same: build walls that challenge climbers, inspire communities, and support the full experience of the sport, including the spectators.

We Don’t Just Build Walls—We Help Shape the Sport

As the trusted wall manufacturer for the IFSC and USA Climbing, we’ve made our mark on the biggest stages in climbing, including:

The Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris
IFSC World Cups and World Championships
The Word Games
The TITAN Boulder – co-developed with the IFSC as the first standardized international comp boulder

Back in May 1989, the first-ever UIAA Climbing World Cup Grand Prix was held in Leeds, UK. It was the beginning of what would become the international competition climbing circuit, and it was built on an EP wall. Not long after, from 1995 to 2002, EP was named the official climbing wall sponsor of the ESPN X Games. From those early milestones to today’s Olympic stage, EP Climbing has remained a trusted name in building competition-ready environments

When it comes to building for competition climbing, we don’t just follow the standards—we help set them.

    Competition-Ready Gyms—Built with Intention

We bring the same level of attention and expertise to local climbing gyms that want to be comp-ready. Whether it’s hosting a regional qualifier or training the next generation of crushers, spaces like Mesa Rim Austin are built to meet high-level competition standards, while still functioning as community hubs. We help gym owners think through not just wall angles and training needs, but also spectator flow, visibility, and how the energy of a comp can fill the space.

Our designs are collaborative from day one. Our employees are climbers, route setters, coaches, and former competitors, and we work closely with industry leaders, from national federations to route setters, to make sure every project reflects the latest in comp design and the climbing community’s needs.

It’s All Connected: From Youth to Elite

EP’s history in competition climbing also extends to developing youth training facilities that prepare climbers for the competitive world. A youth-centered training center gives young climbers access to world-class features early in their development, mirroring the kinds of profiles and holds they’ll see on elite walls and competitions. Our training walls are designed to grow with your team, helping bridge the gap between recreational climbing and competition performance.

We’ve also developed specialized structures like the Titan Boulder, a comp-style monolith designed for modern bouldering movement and crowd visibility. It’s the kind of centerpiece that commands attention and is quickly becoming a new standard for international events.

    Building a Legacy

As we look to the future, EP Climbing continues to play an integral role in shaping competition climbing around the world. Our work at the highest levels of competition climbing, combined with our focus on community and access, ensures that the sport continues to grow, inspire, and challenge climbers of all ages and abilities.
